Doug Stacey
I began working in Supply Chain back in 1996 as a buyer for a Hydro
Switchgear manufacturer. After being in this position I quickly realized
that Supply Chain would be an ideal field to establish a career. It
was challenging, and required various skill sets that ensured a variety
of responsibilities on an ongoing basis.
As I looked to advance my career the same acronym seemed to appear
everywhere, C.P.P. (Certified Professional Purchaser). I quickly
realized that if I was going to be successful in this field I needed to
obtain this professional designation.
The C.P.P. accreditation program, called the Strategic Supply Chain
Management Leadership Program, has been enhanced and redesigned. The
new curriculum shifts the focus from purchasing to strategic supply
chain management to meet the evolving needs of the marketplace with a
greater focus on global perspective, best practice and process
throughout all stages of Supply Chain.
The knowledge that I’ve gained from this program has aided me in
transitioning from that starting role to a Procurement Manager position,
looking after seven offices throughout North America, and finally into
my current position as a Strategic Sourcing Specialist for one of the
largest Enterprise Retailers in Canada.
The expertise that I’ve gained through this program is immediately
transferable into the work place and reaps immediate benefits. While
the curriculum is challenging both intellectually and timely, the
understanding and tolerance of the administrators make is reasonable to
achieve, even with a busy career and personal life.
Choosing to obtain my professional designation from OIPMAC has been
one of the best career decisions I’ve made. The benefits, knowledge and
opportunities that have been presented have only been matched by the
incredible professionals I’ve had the privilege of meeting through the
numerous networking opportunities and educational workshops put on by
the equally talented OIPMAC team.
